Anacortes Community Theatre's 2021 Season
At the beginning of March, we closed a very well-received production of Murder on the Orient Express and the youthful excited cast of Disney’s High School Musical was loading on to Anacortes Community Theatre’s stage. Then, while more than thirty voices were singing, “We’re All In This Together”, we learned of COVID-19. This fabulous cast of local young actors, many of which were high school seniors, were crushed that this fine performance could not be delivered. However, instead of closing completely, ACT chose to set aside the balance of the original season and produce and deliver virtual performances of small cast shows for our patrons enjoyment. Making the transition to filmed production with the restrictions of insuring actor and staff health, was a challenging task, but we continued forth with the passion and dedication to the arts that has always been the core of our theatre community. We hope you have found our productions entertaining and will enjoy our current and last production of 2020 – a newly written version of A Christmas Carol. As we complete this unexpected season, we recognize that the success of the 2020 season would not have been possible without the contributions of many volunteers, casts and crews and the financial backing of our patrons. We are so thankful for the donations from more than 180 households that helped us keep the lights on this season, and to our Guardian donors who committed to multi-year donations. With so much to be thankful for in 2020, we look forward with hope towards 2021 and 2022.
Anacortes Community Theatre has decided not to sell season tickets for 2021. If we are able to safely open the theatre in 2021 for a live audience, we will do so, but for now we must continue forward virtually. In order to remain flexible and provide the best shows possible, we are only selling tickets on a “show to show” basis in 2021. We are excited about the possibilities for fun and inventive theatre this year, starting with our first show for the 2021 season; “A Killer Party: A Murder Mystery Musical.” This is a brand- new show that was produced by Broadway stars and writers during quarantine, and is now being made available to theatres across the United States. This lively musical mystery will be directed by Sydney Brady and will feature many well-loved actors from around Skagit Valley. Performances will be in February, and tickets will be available on January 12th. For more information about our 2021 season, please see our 2021 Questions and Answers page on the other side of this letter.
Our intent is to commit to a full live season for 2022. We are grateful to the support of our season ticket holders as we complete our 56th year, and we hope that existing and new patrons will join us in 2021 for the 2022 season. We plan to offer season tickets for 2022, and all 2020 season ticket holders will receive a notification giving them the option of renewing their usual performance dates and seats. Our 2020 season ticket holders will all receive renewal notices in July of 2021. Season tickets will go on sale to the public in August of 2021.
