Treasure Island: A RADIO Play
Who: 3rd – 5th Grade
Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson is a classic tale of a young boy named Jim
Hawkins who finds a map of a pirate treasure island in the mid-1700s. He and his
compatriots find the island, overcome a crew of mutinous pirates and return to England
with the treasure.
This radio play adaptation stays true to the original story/dialogue and gives young
performers an opportunity to explore this unique theatrical style.
Listeners at the performance will visualize the characters, setting and action in their
minds, without benefit of costumes, sets or staging. Creating signature characters and
evocative sound effects will challenge the actors to experiment with both sound design
and storytelling techniques.
Dates: March 24th – April 23rd (no classes during Spring Break)
Performance: Friday, April 25th at 6:00pm

Go Ahead, Make a Scene!
Who: 6th – 12th grade
Scene study is the art of analyzing a scene and working out what you need to do to
really bring the script to life. Scene study is also where an actor learns to focus on and
respond to other actors. Students will see how the techniques and exercises learned in
class can lead to more compelling portrayals of a wide spectrum of emotions. Different
genres and numbers of acting partners are applied to part improv/part scripted scenes.
Actors will showcase their new skills in a limited performance for the public.
Dates: March 25th – April 24th (no classes during Spring Break)
Performance: Thursday, April 24th at 6:00pm
When: Tuesday/Thursday 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm
