Class ACT Virtual Schools Program
Under the current Washington State guidelines for the 2020- 2021 school year, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the in-person programming that Class ACT usually provides for schools will not be possible. We fully support the need to keep students and staff safe and healthy. However, we also want to continue to provide quality theatre programming for students. We love working with students of all ages, and our programs in the schools allow us to work with students who may not have exposure to the theatre arts in any other way.
We are excited to announce that we have created a Class ACT Virtual Production Program for the 2020-20201 school year. This program will take place entirely online and will still end with a fun theatrical performance that students can keep forever. In many ways, the format and product are similar to the program we’ve done with schools in the past. We will still focus on theatrical acting skills, following directions, working as a group and the ultimate satisfaction of being in a play performance. However, the K- 2nd group will be learning their songs and motions from video lessons, and the 3rd – 5th grade students will rehearse via Zoom. Instead of live performances for the public, we will edit a final production from “at-home” performances and create DVD’s for every student. We will also make it available as a downloadable link so students and parents can share it with whoever is important to them, whether near or far.
Our first, program will be with all three elementary schools in the Anacortes School District and their Anacortes At Home Program in March of 2021.
