Directors Notes:
I’ve always been a song and dance man, so I think many were surprised when I chose Steel Magnolias as a play to direct. I had never done a “straight play” before and really without all the flashy lights, big music and large dance numbers to hide behind, as a director I’d be lying if I said that didn’t scare me. Then the words of a very wise mentor came to mind – casting is 80% of the show. How lucky for me to have not one – but two stellar casts to welcome audiences back to the theatre. The 12 ladies you will see on stage (well 6 for you tonight) have been a brave, trusting, responsive, generous, loving, and joyful group to work with. They have made this easy by taking every note, trying every risk and allowing me as a director to be vulnerable and not perfect. Thank you, ladies, for this incredible journey you have allowed me to take with you. This will be my last show for a while with our baby on the way. And I have to say – I’m excited for the break to spend all my time with the most important woman in my life, Torie my wife, I love you. Thank you for all your help not only blocking the show with me and helping to create many of the special moments in this show – but also for doing most of the work on our greatest production ever – our baby.
Steel Cast April 1st-10th

Connie Murray - Clairee Belcher
Connie Murray (Clairee) is so tickled to be making her ACT debut with such a warm and talented cast, crew and director. She and her husband/frequent-stage-partner John, are recent transplants from Seattle where they’ve spent many a year trodding the boards. Some of her favorite past rolls include: Sister Aloysius in “Doubt”, Blanche in “Streetcar…”, Virginia in “Native Gardens”, Clair in “Rumors”, Melissa in “Love Letters, Olive in “The Odd Couple (female version)”, and Joy in “Shadowlands”. She feels truly honored to be welcomed into the beautiful Anacortes community by sharing this wonderful story with you! Peace and welcome back to live theatre!

Beth Morgan-Cleland - Ouiser Boudreaux
Is excited to return to the ACT stage since her role as Helen Hubbard in "Murder on the Orient Express" in February of 2020. She thanks TJ for this wonderful opportunity to work under his talented direction, after all these years of observing his ongoing career since he was a student at Fidalgo Elementary. Being a part of Truvy’s Beauty Salon has been a touching experience. Beth sends kudos to every member of the production for the dedication and commitment of bringing this heartwarming show back on the stage. Some of her favorite roles include Mrs. Graves in "Enchanted April", Doris in "Cemetery Club", and Helene Hanff in "84 Charing Cross Road". She thanks her husband, Tom, for his ongoing support.

Lacy Rae - Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie
Is a 20-year-old sophomore at Western Washington University. She got her start in community theater at the age of 13 when she was cast in her first show, "Romeo and Juliet the Musical", META. After that she began performing in the valley multiple times a year and found her love for the Theatre. Some other memorable performances of hers include the role of Queenie in "Pray the Gay Away", TAG, and Bebe Benzenheimer in "A Chorus Line", Skagit Valley College. This is her first time being back on stage after a two-year break and she is both excited and nervous. She feels blessed to have been a part of this production and to have been able to work with such inspiring actresses. She would also like to thank TJ for all his hard work and for being such an uplifting and supportive director. Finally, Lacy would like to dedicate her performance to her amazing mom Darcy who always supports her and gives her strength.

Sydney Brady - M'Lynn Eatenton
Is so happy to return to the stage and LIVE theatre, it feels like coming home. "Steel Magnolias" has been a journey full of new friends, laughter, hope and courage. Some favorite ACT roles from the past include Lotty in “Enchanted April”, Linda in “Pageturners” and Drowsy in “The Drowsy Chaperone”. She thanks TJ for his trust and guidance with the role of M’Lynn. She sends hugs, kisses and gratitude to Don, Chloe and her parents for their love, support and encouragement. And she thanks you, dear audience, with her whole heart, for being here today.

Dawn Uroff - Truvy Jones
Is delighted to be treading the boards again with an incredibly talented cast and crew. Her last theatrical adventure was playing Russian Princess Dragomira in ACT's "Murder on the Orient Express". Completely switching accents, hair, and body movements to bring Truvy to life has been great fun and creatively reinvigorating. By day, Dawn enjoys teaching 5th grade students. In her spare time, she is a sailing enthusiast and has recently taken up chalk painting furniture for her new home.

Emily Hall - Annelle Dupuy - Desoto
Is so excited to be part of this production! When she is not on stage she is a senior at Western Washington University, a dog mom, and is an educator. In her free time she loves to do makeup and eat Oreos. This show holds a dear place in her heart and she is so proud to share this with everyone.
Magnolias Cast - April 14th-24th

Marilyn Pinquoch - Clairee Belcher
Marilyn is thrilled to be on the live stage again after the long Covid hiatus. She is a retired Elementary school teacher who is enjoying retirement and so thankful she wasn’t teaching during the past two Covid years. Her praise goes to all the teachers who persevered and brought their students through a very difficult time. It is full circle for her. She played the role of M’Lynn in 1995. Now she has the honor of playing the Grande Dame Clairee almost 35 years later. Some of her favorite roles include: Violet in "9 to 5 The Musical", Hannah in "Spitfire Grill", Jeannette in "The Full Monty", Ida in "Cemetery Club", Jo in "Cowgirls", Jessie in "Calendar Girls" and Sylivia (the dog) in "Sylvia". Marilyn has directed and musical directed numerous shows over the past 30+ years. Two of her favorites include: Musical Director of Les Miserables for ACT, and Director and Musical Director of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat for TAG at McIntyre Hall. She would like to thank TJ, the cast and crew for a fabulous show, and of course, her family for their continued support over the years.

Melissa Bridges - Ouiser Boudreaux
Melissa Bridges has been around ACT for decades and can occasionally be found in front of the footlights, but has usually been behind the scenes directing or producing (or other odd jobs). Her last appearance on stage was as “ Willlamina “ in "SILENT SKY". She has also played “Marie” in "Calendar Girls "(she was the one who kept her clothes on). Previous acting credits include "Once Upon a Mattress", "Sound of Music", "Fiddler on the Roof" (funny, all musicals and she doesn’t even sing!) and "Over the River and Through the Woods". Melissa is thankful to TJ for casting her in this totally non-characteristic role; to Keiko (her four-legged buddy) for letting her be gone so much, and to all who helped with memorizing her lines.

Kenzie Sharpe - Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie
This is Kenzie’s first official show with Anacortes Community Theatre and she couldn’t be more thrilled. Kenzie graduated from Western Washington University with her bachelors in theatre with a theatre education concentration and just recently finished her masters in teaching, elementary education. This stage holds a special place in her heart as it was where she watched her now husband perform for the first time in the cast of "Les Miz"(2014). Kenzie has had the opportunity to direct throughout the years through Burlington-Edison High school’s drama program which has included shows like "Cheaper By the Dozen", "You Can’t Take It With You", and "Shrek: The Musical". A few of her favorite onstage roles include Ado Annie in BEHS’s "Oklahoma!", Step Mother in META’s" Into The Woods", and now Ms. Shelby Eatenton Latcherie! Kenzie wants to thank everyone who has taken time to support this show in whatever capacity that may be. Theater has been missing for far too long and now it is back, baby!! She also wants to thank her wonderful family, friends, and her smoking hot husband for all the love and support they have given her throughout this journey. Enjoy the show, friends!

Nona Hanson - M'Lynn Eatenton
Is so excited to be in her first live production at ACT. Her previous roles include; Claire in "Thank You, 10", a virtual production here at ACT; Adult ensemble in "Matilda: the Musical", where she shared the stage with her husband and two sons, and she was cast as Mrs. Paroo opposite her two sons in the ill-fated production of "The Music Man" that was canceled the week before opening night in March of 2020. Nona loves to work in her garden and raise chickens. She enjoys traveling with her family. She is a full-time homeschooling mom and in her spare time works as a physician. She thanks her family for their continual love and support.

Carolyn Travis - Truvy Jones
Is beyond thrilled to be back on the ACT stage, and is especially excited to be a part of this amazing play. "Steel Magnolias" holds a very special place in her heart, as do the people involved in this particular production. Carolyn considers herself most fortunate to have been allowed to act on many of the stages in Skagit county, and is very proud to be a founding member of Shakespeare Northwest. When not treading the boards, she supports her theater habit by working as a LVT for the NOAH Center and Maplewood Animal Hospital. She sends all her love to her husband and favorite acting partner, Trey, and snuggles to her vast furry family. A special thanks to TJ as well for giving her a chance to work with him again.

Katie Jennings - Annelle Dupuy-Desoto
Is so happy to be part of an on stage production again. Most recently seen virtually as Cathy Hiatt in ACT's production of "The Last Five Years" and Justine Case in "A Killer Party", Katie also recently performed on stage at ACT as Doralee Rhodes in "9 to 5: The Musical", and Olive Ostrovsky in "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee". Steel Magnolias has long been one of Katie's favorite plays and she is honored to be playing Annelle. This show has been such a special experience; big thanks and love to the incredible cast, production team, and stage crew. Thank you to our patrons for sticking with us through virtual shows. We are so excited to welcome you back into the theater!
Production Team
Chandler Eichele – Lighting Design
Jan Trumble – Hair
Lindsay Hendricks – Crew
This is Lindsay’s third production at ACT. Having previously worked on Hound of the Baskervilles and 9-5. She has previously worked backstage with TAG and META on the productions of Annie and West Side Story.
Morgan Loftus – Stage Manager
Morgan is thrilled to be back at ACT for her third production. Last on stage for Murder on the Orient Express, she’s excited to be behind the scenes stage managing. She is grateful to ACT and TJ for the opportunity.
Rob Hanson – Producer
Judy McAuley – Costume Design
Judy grew up right here in Anacortes and after being gone for 26 years, is excited to be back and involved in the community. Some of the most fun she had raising her two kids was her involvement in their high school drama program. Now that they are grown, she was wanting a place to be a part of theater production again. This is her first time costuming a full cast and it has been a great experience. Outside of costuming she is a nurse, a gardener, quilter and loves spending her time with her family.
